Inactivation of Fecal coliforms during solar and photocatalytic disinfection by zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles in compound parabolic concentrators (CPCs)
Water samples of 0, 50, and 100 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU) spiked with fecal coliforms (107 CFU/ml) were exposed to natural sunshine in 1l quartz glass tubes fitted with rectors’ compound parabolic concentrators CPCS at two forms CPC1 (whit nanoparticle zinc oxide) and CPC2(without nanoparticle zinc oxide). The samples were characterized using the X-ray...
متن کاملComparative inactivation of adenovirus serotypes by UV light disinfection.
The results of this study confirm that adenoviruses are the most resistant enteric viruses to inactivation by UV light and that adenovirus 40 appears to be the most resistant. The effect of freeze-thawing and storage in water may affect the sensitivity of some adenoviruses to inactivation by UV light.
متن کاملInactivation of norovirus by chlorine disinfection of water.
In an effort to validate previous research suggesting remarkable resistance of norovirus to free chlorine disinfection, we characterized the disinfection response of purified and dispersed Norwalk virus (NV) by bench-scale free chlorine disinfection using RT-PCR for virus assays. The inactivation of NV by two doses of free chlorine (1 and 5mg/L) at pH 6 and 5 degrees C based on two RT-PCR assay...
متن کاملSoft surface sanitizing.
pathogenic organisms to patients that soft surfaces need to be included in the organization's routine cleaning activities. It is important to understand that there are differences between cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting. Only a hard, nonpo-rous surface can be disinfected. Cleaning refers to the physical a product to achieve a soft surface sanitizing claim by the EPA, the manufacturer mus...
متن کاملThe efficacy and stability of five sanitizing agents challenged with reference microorganisms and clean area isolates
The antimicrobial activity of five sanitizing agents employed in clean areas designated for the pharmaceutical manufacturing of sterile products was tested against nine microorganisms, including four microorganisms from the clean area microbiota. The method consisted of challenging 5 mL of each sanitizing agent 70% isopropyl alcohol, 0.4% LPH®, 1.16% hydrogen peroxide, 4% hydrogen peroxide, 1% ...
